Fortunately, no Doctor has to suffer every illness they treat.
I have, through lacking skills and resources from an early age, learnt my lessons in life the hard way. I have been in prison
for various crimes. I eventually escaped my own self made prison of limitation, and lack of self belief.
That is the past, having overcome Heroin, and other addictions, I want
to give back to the world, make a positive contribution. Having gained skills and discovered new resources, I want to pass
on my lessons of life.
Anyone's
mess can become a message.
- lesson
1. First step I made was to accept help and put my changes into practice.
- lesson 2. Next step was to realise it was only me that made the lessons hard.
- lesson 3. There are other ways to learn............
I have been working as a Hypnotherapist in private practice since
1994, originally training in Transactional Analysis then learning other fast and effective therapies, studying both here and
abroad to learn from the best therapists I could find. I have gone back and worked in 3 prisons in a positive
role. Dealing with anger issues and self harm, drug and alcohol rehabilitation. I have worked with many mental health services
including MIND. Most recently consulting with the Scottish government on ordinary people getting help, and publicising that
through a TV show on STV called 'Make me Happier'.
I
am a Certified Trainer and Master practitioner of NLP (Neuro Linguistic programming), a Licensed Instructor of Hypnotherapy
with the American board of Hypnotherapy and a Master Hypnotherapist, a Practitioner of Meridian based Therapies including
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), level 2 practitioner in TFT (Thought Field Therapy) and a practitioner of TAT (Tapas Acupuncture
Techniques). I use a combination of approaches that are tailored to the individual needs of each client
for them to best achieve their outcomes.
I have many activities
and hobbies that I feel inform my work and my knowledge of the mind and communication. I've meditated regularly since
1994 using this as a tool for calming the mind and to clarifying thinking. I've practised Tai Chi and Chi Kung since 1992
and also yoga, which again have helped me to experience calm in mind and body. My practise of Pilate's had developed to
enhance and support my body in the above practises, again raising a level of awareness of mind and body. I play music
and write songs to express myself creatively and have fun. I'm currently developing Mindfulness Based Therapies
as a web site and 'Umbrella' name for my trainings in particular. To know more about Mindfulness see the pdf below.
