What is NLP?

NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming came from the observations of John Grinder and Richard Bandler, who studied the best therapists in the USA and other so called “best Hypnotherapist's” or experts in sales, education and sports. They discovered the differences that made a difference, from being just OK at something, to how someone came to be the best in their chosen field. They developed Models based on their learning's and the patterns they identified. This enabled them to teach others how to replicate very skilled people, and then get the same amazing results for themselves by application of these models. So NLP was born out of curiosity and the ability to spot patterns of behavior.

Neuro Linguistic programming became known as the Science of Excellence due to this study of how people performed successfully rather than the current psychological world that studied how people performed problems. Mostly they studied how people had overcome "problems" with no external help, what they did in their minds that made a difference, and then applied those patterns to others who still had problems and discovered these people then could quickly overcome their own problems.

refers to the mind and its processing through the senses

Linguistic refers to the language verbal and non verbal we use

Programming refers to our strategies or habits that give us what we want without having to think about it.

NLP is sometimes referred to the Art and Science of Achievement or the Study of Subjective Experience. It has uses in many fields of practise and is practised in every country in the world now. Its one of the most common words entered in search engines. There are hundreds of books available on NLP and more being printed as you read this. NLP continues to spread and grow some 30 years after being developed. There are NLP Practitioners in nearly every country in the world now.

Why I Train people in NLP ?

I'm a Trainer and Master Practitioner of NLP, an Instructor of Hypnotherapy, a Master Hypnotherapist, a Trainer of Time Based Change Techniques, a Mindfulness Trainer and a Trainer of Mindfulness Based Life Coaching.

Over 17 years on since I first came across NLP I'm still interested in many aspects of it, and still use NLP daily in my life and work, for me it’s an investment that has continued to reward and enrich my life.

When I first came across the term 'NLP' I thought what the hells that? I heard people saying they’d “used” NLP on someone and they spoke excitedly about their results. Then one day in my training to become a psychotherapist I went on a therapy weekend where the therapist asked people to close their eyes, and got them to do some shifting about of mental images, and asked them to gather learning’s from their unconscious, play music in their heads or remember some great times in their lives. I saw them smile and say things like wow its gone! Sometimes with something that had troubled them for most their life! now gone. Things that I thought would take years to change.

What was going on?

What technique was that I’d ask? NLP would be the reply. I was pretty impressed, and I wanted to learn how to do things like that.

So I took my training in NLP found it was easy to learn, and readily usable in my life, plus it fitted with my life as a Buddhist and Mindfulness practitioner, giving me more options of working in my meditation, also giving me a better understanding of my Tai Chi and Yoga, by learning more of the mind/body connection, and they were communicating with me if only I'd listen and tune in. I took more training's in  NLP became a Master Hypnotherapist, and sought out whatever therapies I thought were fast powerful and effective. I began to feel more comfortable teaching and standing up in front of large groups of people and I got to work in TV. The reason I was recommended for my first work in TV was that the person who recommended me knew I practised as a Hypnotherapist and 'used' NLP, and therefore knew I would have the  skills for quick change, and effective change under sometimes quite pressured situations. So I love my job ! and plan to work for another 30 years or so as it is my passion.
