What is NLP?

NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming came from the observations of John Grinder and Richard Bandler who studied the best therapists in the USA and other so called “bests” or experts in sales, education and sports. They discovered the differences that made a difference in being just ok at something and being the best. They developed Models based on their learnings to teach others how to replicate very skilled people and to get the same results as they did without many years of practise .

Neuro refers to the mind and its processing through the senses

Linguistic refers to the language verbal and non verbal we use

Programming refers to our strategies or habits that give us what we want without having to think about it.

NLP is sometimes referred to the Art and science of achievement. It has uses in many fields of practise and is practised in every country in the world now. Its one of the most common words entered in search engines. There are hundreds of books available on NLP and more being printed as you read this. NLP continues to spread and grow some 30 years after being developed. There are NLP Practitioners in nearly every country in the world now.

Why I Train people in NLP ?

Im a Trainer and Master Practitioner of NLP an Instructor of Hypnotherapy and Master hypnotherapist and Trainer of Time Line Therapy and Master Time line Therapist. I first came across the term NLP and thought what the hells that?

I heard people saying they’d “used” NLP on someone and spoke excitedly about their results. Then one day in my training to become a psychotherapist I went on a therapy weekend where the therapist asked people to close their eyes and got them to do some shifting about of mental images asked them to gather learning’s from their unconscious, play music in their heads or remember some great times in their lives I saw them smile and say things like wow its gone! Sometimes something they had had trouble with for most their life! Things that I thought would take years to change. What was going on?

What technique was that I’d ask? NLP would be the reply. I was pretty impressed, and I wanted to know how to do things like that.

So I took my training in NLP found it was easy to learn and readily usable in my life it fitted with my life as a Buddhist giving me more options of working in my meditation and gave me a better understanding of even my tai chi and yoga by learning more of how my mind and body were connected and were communicating with me if only id listen and tune in, I trained in more NLP became a hypnotherapist and sought out whatever therapies I thought were fast powerful and effective, I began to feel more comfortable teaching and standing up in front of large groups of people and I got to work in TV. The reason I was recommended for my first work in TV was that the person who recommended me knew I did NLP and knew id have skills for quick change and effective change under sometimes quite pressured situations.

Over 10 years on since I first came across NLP im still interested in many aspects of it and still use it daily in my life and work, for me it’s an investment that has continued to reward and enrich my life.

Part of what I enjoy as a Trainer of  NLP is watching and hearing about the changes people make, I like to take a before and after training snap so people and myself can look back on how they’ve changed. Each time people come back together after a few weekends apart they report on their successes, its very heart warming! Its amazing how different people can look after a course like this. The next step is to keep it all going, and I do give support to all my students who are free to email me with questions or advise in integrating what they’ve learned.
